Life isn’t about standing still and playing it safe – progress is impossible without change.
We have been designing and creating visuals for our clients as A D Design for the past six years. We loved our identity, but felt that with a change in direction to what the business was originally started as, our brand no longer reflected who we have grown into, or where we see ourselves in the future. With this on our minds, we knew it was time to evolve our look and rebrand!
So, say hello to Talk Visual
This might seem like a sudden decision – and in a way, it is! But if the past 18 months have taught us anything, it’s that change is progression, and we have been reflecting on who we are as a brand for some time. The latest lockdown gave us time to get swept into a creative storm and start building the story we want to tell, something we originally planned on doing over the next year or so.
While we are so excited to introduce you to Talk Visual, we are mindful that we don’t want to erase our history!
A D Design had a proud history built on the foundation of a well-established studio known as Allan Derrick Advertising and Design for over 30 years. In 2015, the name was transitioned to A D Design when the business took on its new owner, Haylee Officer.
After developing the brand of A D Design over 6 years, we thought hard about what it stands for. It came down to this – we have developed into much more than the traditional advertising and design agency that the company was originally built on, and the A D brand wasn’t reflective of us as a company.
Communication design is our why!
Our core focus is graphic design, design strategy and corporate communication design. While yes, we still produce advertising material, we have so much more in our tool belt and we wanted that to be indicated in our name, our logo, and our studio culture.
Providing businesses with support for their brand strategy through graphic design and corporate communication design is our why. From logo design, corporate profiles, annual reports, and policy documents, to social media campaigns and websites, we have a true passion for helping every business communicate their story through design
The bottom line is that we are creatives. We truly live and breathe what we do. It’s our mission to share our love of design and help businesses tell their story in a professional and cohesive way – everyone deserves to look good!
All the familiar faces are still here!
Talk Visual is owned by Haylee, a graphic designer, business owner, mum, wife, and the only lefty in the studio. She spent her younger days travelling the world trampolining (yes, really), shopping, and chasing the sun for a good tan. Haylee lived in Auckland and Waikato, yet Southland kept pulling her back as each stage of her life changed. She is a collector of well-designed packaging and has a knack for spitting out creative ideas at random, keeping the studio on its toes!
Michaela, also a master graphic designer, has travelled around the globe and even worked overseas as a photographer for a time. She grew up as a rugby-loving violinist in Gore and always provides excellent stories of her time as an RA at a hall of residence. Working in the creative field has done nothing but increase her passion for the industry, and the people it attracts. She is constantly looking for opportunities to help people and their brands, and to become the best version of themselves.
As the final piece of the puzzle, Kameron jumped at the chance to become part of a creative environment where she can do the two things she loves most, using her administration skills to help people, and putting the left side of her brain to work! Kameron was raised as a true southland girl and spent much of her childhood writing stories, drawing pictures, and playing video games in a whitebait hut.
Working with us
As a small tight-knit team, we work together like a well-oiled machine. We each have our own unique skills that contribute to the overall picture. As creative thinkers, we specialise in a number of disciplines and have a passion for making an impact in the design world.
The only aspect that gets reused from project to project is our process – and even then, the depth of the process depends on the task at hand. We treat each project as one of a kind with the goal of creating a unique design outcome for our clients and their business strategy. As we build trust with each client, the true value of what we can offer comes out. Collaboration is an important step of the process. Working alongside our clients, we merge their ideas and our creativity to deliver innovative designs to boost their business.
We offer clients not only our experience, but the benefit of a small, yet dynamic studio. This means you receive our absolute attention, access to our varied creative talents, and the convenience of working directly with the person creating your project.
Rebranding to form Talk Visual was a necessary step in the development of our team, and the studio’s future in a competitive market. We still offer many of the same services and are still the same team. We have undergone a brand refresh to reflect our current position and offerings to the market.
We want to extend a huge thank you to all of our past, present, and future clients for your support. We cannot wait to reintroduce ourselves and see what the future has in store for our little team.
Talk Visual is here to show that design can be for everyone.
