Report Design
EM Consulting has worked with our team on a number of projects, and being a big fan of our work, Emma was keen to work with us again to deliver engaging, professionally designed and typeset environmental reports for her client, the Otago Regional Council. Emma, as EM Consulting, offers a broad range of environmental consultancy services and works with multiple councils and other environmental groups. She has a strong reputation for helping people find a way through complex problems, sitting firmly at the interface between economics, policy and science.
There were two reports required for this project. Part one, the Farmers and Growers in Otago report, consisted of 198 pages and part two, the Otago rural businesses and environmental actions for fresh water report, had 323 pages. The reports were designed to support the development of the Land and Water Regional Plan and the Economic Work Programme for Otago Regional Council. As informative reports, the design needed to be clear, consistent, and have a sharp attention to detail as all information had to be displayed and numbered perfectly. The design also needed to be flexible and easy to use as the design would need to be carried through to each new report we work on with EM Consulting.
A large number of images and figures are shown throughout the report, and careful planning and consideration of how these would be included on each page and section without leaving large gaps were needed. As a team, Talk Visual has vast experience with publication and print design, so there was no detail left to chance. Text size, hierarchy, colour usage, keen proofreading and meticulous organisation are just some of the important elements setting our design apart.
It took time, a lot of liaising with Emma, and the chapter authors, and multiple combs through the document to make sure all the t’s were crossed and I’s dotted. But the result is a series of reports that are practical, comprehensive, and visually interesting. Both Emma and the Otago Regional Council are exceptionally pleased with the result and are only too proud to show off their hard work.
Everyone is very pleased with how the report looks – imagine an economic report that is so visual!
We know working with a design team can seem daunting. But here’s a few common questions that tell you a little more about working with us.
Every client and project is unique, but our objective always remains the same. Unlike other studios where you will only communicate with a project manager, every one of us is hands-on, and your point of contact will be the person working directly on your project. This ensures a more personalised and direct line of communication and allows for a better understanding and execution of your vision.
Something unique about us is we are all on the tools! What does this mean for you? Well, it means you when you meet with us and brainstorm for a project you will be talking with someone who has a good understanding of how the ideas could be executed, pick up any road bumps or even push the ideas further.
Something unique about us is we are all on the tools! What does this mean for you? Well, it means when you meet with us to brainstorm a project, you will be talking with someone who has an understanding of how the ideas could be executed, can pick up any road bumps, make recommendations, or push ideas even further.
Our team is intentionally small, valuing direct client contact and having the ability to deliver a more personalised experience.
Many of the skills needed within graphic design and visual communication services relate to one another. With a strong theoretical and practical understanding (as well as a heck of a lot of experience) our team can be versatile in the services we offer.
But we also know our limits, having a range of other specialist professionals in our contact list to take charge when a required skill isn’t our strong suit.
Each of us understands the value of personal and professional development, and we never stop learning newskills or taking the time for training.
Not at all! We work with clients from various locations, and geographical proximity is not a limitation. We can communicate effectively through virtual meetings, phone calls, and email. Regardless of your location, we are committed to providing the same level of dedication and support to all our clients.
