Staff Churn – Getting creative

Need to advertise for a marketing and communications coordinator or advisor? How are you going finding a content manager?

Here’s an idea to fill the gap of a new hire!
While having in-house staff is nice, it may not be the most practical or even cost-effective solution. It isn’t always easy to find the time to create adverts, go through the interviewing process, and then hope that you have the right person – not to mention the costs involved with listing jobs!

Maybe this is the time to contract out the work you need to be done, even as a short-term solution to get you through a busy period. Or maybe you need some breathing room to get other tasks done.

How do you work around staff who are only part-time?
We know that shorter work weeks and part-time positions are quickly increasing in popularity. Since the outbreak of Covid-19, staff are looking for a better work-life balance and focusing on different things – which is all great and lovely, but what do you do when your staff member only works a 4-day week, and you desperately need something done on a Friday?

Contracting out your marketing and communication needs means someone will always be available when you need them. You can either have someone familiar to use on an as-needed basis for those days you’re left in a lurch or contract out the whole position so that you’re only paying for the work you need to be done as it comes up.

Dealing with a staff shortage.
So even if you do have the time and resources to go through the hiring process, you may be lucky to find a person, let alone the right person. If you’re unable to get staff, then jobs don’t get done; if jobs don’t get done, you don’t get the customers; without customers, your business gets smaller. But you can stop the slide by contracting it out so you can get things done and move on.

Now we know..
The answer to your staff churn lies in getting creative. Hiring someone new, working around part-timers, and navigating the worldwide worker shortage doesn’t have to be time-consuming or tricky. You could even pawn off those recurring tasks you cringe at having to do.
